EUDALD VAN DER PLA, DESIGNER
Many designers have seen in design a tool to transform and change the world. Eudald is one of those and has also found cultural activism, that way of connecting with society and trying to change it. That’s where Ex Abrupto was born, a collective of contemporary nomadic art. He describes it as a family that believes in art as a lifestyle and way of relating.
From his artistic trips, he remembers his views of the ARCO fair in Madrid, but he does not highlight any specific work or artistic thought. What we liked the most was going to tapas, partying and ending up in afters, we could say that they were artistic and astral trips.
Now, during the year he likes to visit European cities, in general, “I make gastronomic and artistic routes, I like to taste food, and the art of different cultures is a very tangible way of understanding a society”.
EUDALD VAN DER PLA, DESIGNER
Eudald Van der Pla, is a name linked to a trip. Eudald Pla returned from Amsterdam with his artistic alter ego Van der Pla. So for his English colleagues or when he is for the police is Eudald Pla, and in contexts of art or design, it is Eudald Van der Pla. He tells us that somewhere in him “he needed to separate the intense artistic and designer life” with his “simple civilian life”.
He is 34 years old and has spent his crazy youth in the big city but has recently decided to return to his rural origins. He lives in a town of 6,000 inhabitants where he has rediscovered his bohemian and natural part, although he returns to the city weekly to see that it is cooked. His workspace is an old rehabilitated corral of a house from 1831. An open space that he shares intermittently with other professionals from various disciplines.
And if everything goes well … your star souvenir does not fail: stones, “and if they can be great, I collect stones from all over the world, they are unique pieces”.
